Tour the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

The University of Washington's Clean Energy Institute (CEI) created the Washington Clean Energy Testbeds to accelerate the development, scale-up, and adoption of new technologies in solar harvesting, energy storage, and grid integration. This open-access facility for academic researchers and businesses houses labs for manufacturing prototypes, testing devices, and integrating systems.

This tour will provide guests with a close-up view of the state-of-the-art processing, fabrication, analysis, and integration instrumentation at the Scale-Up & Characterization and Systems Integration Testbeds.  The tour will also feature discussions of on-going programs and ways in which people can become involved in the programs at the Testbeds.

All guests must wear full-length pants and shoes that enclose the entire foot.

Getting there:
The Scale-Up & Characterization and Systems Integration Testbeds are located just a short walk from the University of Washington campus in a former light manufacturing facility near University Village. The building has been converted into a 15,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility with lab, office, classroom, and meeting spaces. The door under the Clean Energy Institute sign leads to the main lobby.

Driving: Limited parking in the lot, some street parking.
Public transportation: Take Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail to the University of Washington/Husky Stadium Station. Bus lines 31, 32, 67, 75, 78 conveniently connect the University of Washington Light Rail Station to NE 45th Street and Union Bay Place NE. Walk one block north on Union Bay Place NE. The Testbeds will be on your left.
