What kind of Data Scientist / Engineer will be successful at different stages of a company?  

For example, in an early phase where there's not much of a line between Data Scientist / Data Engineer / Software Engineer it's likely you'll want more of a Software Engineer with some machine learning /stats skills, however, as the company grows and tasks become more specialized (and less raw data skills are required), someone with only academic experience or otherwise highly specialized may perform better.
